Aromatherapy at it's best

An introduction into the many uses of

Essential Oils & Ready Made Preparations:

Aromatherapy has been practiced in one form or another since at least Egyptian times. It is only possible from the use of oils extracted from Aromatic plants to enhance health and Beauty. Apart from the physical benefits, Essential oils can have subtle effects on the mind and emotions. The Essential Oils taken from plants and used in Aromatherapy have been described as their life blood, ESSENTIAL to the plants biological process as well as being the substance which gives them their scent.

There are many SYNTHETIC oils, even if chemically similar, these will lack the true elements and the vital life force that makes our Essential Oils so valuable therapeutically. Essential Oils are extracted from flowers, herbs, spices, woods and fibres, usually by distillation. Ama-Zon Oils & Products are of the highest possible quality and has not been tested on animals. Should Oils and Products require glass bottles, then only amber glass is used with dropper tops and caps for all Essential Oils.

Using Essential Oils

BATHS:

Use of essential oils in the bath is a straight forward and effective method for their use. The oils are absorbed through the pores of the skin into the blood stream. Using a full Bath of water to a comfortable temperature add 3-6 drops of Essential oil, swish around vigorously in a figure of eight to disperse the oil. While in the bath you are also inhaling the vapor. The same principle can be used for facial steaming, although only one or two drops should be used.

DO NOT USE UNDILUTED IN BATHS FOR BABIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN, TAKE CARE OF PLASTIC BATHS, SOME OILS MAY CAUSE STAINING.

MASSAGE:

Without doubt the most effective way of using Essential oils. Not only are they absorbed through the skin over a large area, there is the added therapeutic power of touch. Essential oils should not be used undiluted, but be used in conjunction with a quality cold compressed Carrier oil, Grapeseed or Sweet almond are the most commonly used. Measure out 10mls. Of carrier oil, then add a TOTAL of up to 5 drops of Essential Oil, whether it is one or several different oils.

VAPORISATION:

Some Essential Oils are antiseptic and evaporate easily, so they make good air freshners. Different oils can create different atmospheres, e.g. Sandalwood or Clary Sage are good for parties. Peppermint can prove helpful when you need to concentrate. Eucalyptus and Lemon are excellent germ busters for colds and flu. Use in oil burner or electric vaporiser up to a maximum of 10 drops. You will absorb the molecule of the oil through the thin nasal membrane this can prove to be a very beneficial way of using the oils as many can benefit simultaneously.

PERFUMES:

Try experimenting with Essential Oil to make your own natural perfumes. Mix with a quality carrier oil or non fragrant alcohol such as Vodka.
